Anything can be settled with a quick, or long, game of RPS.
urban dictionary's definition of RPS.
i am far too amused that they use the following sentence as an example:
"I just read this amazing Elijah Wood/Dominic Monaghan RPS fic, you have to read it!"

o_O seriously? that sucks. i guess it's always kind of iffy when people can submit their own definitions for things. i didn't stay there very long. stumbled upon this part, shook my head, and moved along.

Even now, after a few years, I still think of it in my head as Real People Stories. Since about I ever read is slash, I don't really need to differentiate. Of course, if I speak to someone I don't really know I have to feel them out a bit, and mention what it is about. Sort of in passing. "Oh, I have some friends who write RPS. You know what that is?" Only if they are interested do I go on. "Well, it's stories about the actors, fictional of course...and usually about how all the guys are 'really good friends'" wink-wink, nudge-nudge, say-no-more-say-no-more!

i started out reading fps (aragorn/legolas) but from there it was only a hop, skip, and a jump over to rps, which i now prefer. i like a little so-called "reality" in my fiction. and i seem to have misplaced that icky feeling that i've heard so much about, couldn't find mine anywhere. =)
i have only mentioned slash fic to a few of my RL friends. most are confused as to why anyone would want to write/read it. i try to explain that it's really fucking hot, but i don't think they believe me. i convinced a few people to read a little, but i received pretty lukewarm feedback from them, so i've stopped pushing it. they know it's my little kink, my little drug, and they love me anyhow. =)
