since bunnie recently joined team panic (yayyyyy), i offered to gather some links for her. i knew didn't have a lot, it's spotty at best (as i'm a bit more focused on mcr, if you couldn't tell), but i had more than i realized and this got a little long. thought i'd post it for everyone, just in case some of you are a wee bit interested or curious as well.


addictedkitten's primer is probably the best place to start. sara's relentless picspamming is what drove me to the bandom edge in the first place. mcr (along with overloved's and phineasjones' help) actually pushed me over that cliff, but panic was like the shiny quarter lying on the ground that first caught my eye and begged for a closer look. sara also put together a pretty great girlfriend primer.

aside from her stuff, i'm just going to direct you to this awesome post of awesomeness. there is so much info collected right there. it's not panic exclusive, but when you're ready to move on to other bands (because, trust me, that day will come) it will be there, waiting to show you the way.

bandom_ships has been an amazing community and resource, esp for relative noobs like myself. no one has posted since march, but i'm hoping it starts up again at some point. i really miss it. :( anyhow, the panic pairings can be found here (again, it's worth a look through the other posts when you're ready to branch out):

i've also really enjoyed bandom_recs. and although it sounds like it would be, it's not entirely fic recs. there are plenty of photos, primers, and music posts as well. again, useful for acquainting yourself with the other bands in this fandom. there's just so much cross-pollination, that it's hard to stick to one specific band. particularly when pete wentz is involved!

backstage in vegas, bonus pete & mark hoppus. this one blows my mind a little. brendon just decides to play bass instead of the guitar while they're practicing. the fact that he can just do that, no problem, stuns me. i just don't even get that kind of musical competence. i get the feeling you could throw a drum kit in front of him, ask him to do spencer's part, and he'd just shrug and say okay.

a classic: panic on a private plane. ryro singing (back when he didn't really do that)! and bden looking fucking adorable with glasses and the facial scuzz.

one of my favorites, i don't even know why exactly. spence, can i get some ice? i think it's the use of the word bro. and maybe the facial hair. 'spence' being all Real Boy, or something. for some bizarre reason i could watch that (and have) over and over again.

ryro has a sense of humor! srsly. his three little monotone words cracked me UP the first time i watched this. and the second, third, and eleventh time. a delightful and unexpected surprise. and just one of many from the recent ablum/tour promotions. i wish i had saved more of them. :(

fic recs:

now, i know you've said you're not ready for these, but one day SOON you will be. trust me.

sadly, i don't have a lot of panic fic bookmarked. i don't read it as often as i'd like to. i tend to follow the mcr pairings a little more fiercely. but this is where all those great rec lists i've mentioned above, as well as the ones below, come in HANDY. (see, i can't be bothered to go find the good fic myself, but thankfully i don't have to! people have already done it for us.)

as for specific stories, there are two that immediately come to mind as Must Reads.

ryan ross: wedding planner by adellyna, and tell me to stop by airgiodslv.

however, 'ryan ross: wedding planner' is an au where, well, where ryan ross is a wedding planner. and while i think the characterizations are spot on, maybe an au isn't the best option for first time panic fic? maybe something based in a bit more canon is an easier transition? i don't know, maybe that's just me. 'tell me to stop' is also an au, along with being a four part, rather epic, bdsm fic. bunnie, it is SO GOOD. but again, maybe not the best choice for starting out? sort of like jumping into the deep end of the pool right off. bookmark them for later, you won't regret it.


i've also really enjoyed pretty much anything by disarm_d. she's big on spencer/brendon, but i've mostly read her brendon/ryan bc that's what i'm often in the mood for when i actively seek out panic fic.

and obvs, anything by airgiodslv is going to be good, as i'm sure you remember from lotrips.

i had these three in my del.icio.us, and while i don't actually remember them in detail (hi, worst rec'er ever *facepalm*), i know i wouldn't have tagged them if i didn't really like them. i pretty much only tag stuff that i would want to read again. and maybe again. ;)

some of my favorite stories actually have a smorgasbord of bandom characters in them, which is awesome once you're familiar, but at this stage of the game might not be as enjoyable for you. we'll hold off on those for now.
