Weekend wrap up...

Good lord, two whole days away from lj, I was starting to have some serious withdrawls... much to catch up on. First and foremost:
And then late on Friday I got some really upsetting news... (okay, no one's dying, it wasn't that upsetting) Angel was canceled. But... why... why... I don't understand, it was just getting good again. Every episode this season (aside from this last week's crappy episode) has been buckets better than every episode last season. They finally got rid of the annoying Connor and the stupid pregnant Cordelia storyline (snooze) and got back to the fun, the funniness, the fundom! Damn those WB fuckwads. And did you see previews for next week's Angel, hello?! He's a puppet!!! It doesn't get better than that! Aaarrggghhhh. Guess they need to make room on their schedule for another one tree everwood seventh oc heaven piece of crap.
Moving on... yesterday (aside from being valentine's day - whatever) was roomie's birthday, so we went out, shopped, dinner, movie, good times. We saw the Dreamers.
Yep, there was cock, lots o nudity all around. Quite brave of them really. In more than one seen the actors literally have their faces in each other's genitals, not necessarily in a sexual way, just hanging out. As for the movie, it was... okay. I think I had higher expectations. I really enjoyed how they intercut clips from classic movies with their reenactments. I've never thoroughly enjoyed Bertolucci's films. There's always something I like, but then again I also feel like, shut up already! I was hoping for a little more emotional investment with the characters, maybe a little more jealously or passion, and quite frankly I was really hoping for some boy on boy action. There were moments where I could feel it coming, almost a kiss, a look, yes, do it, though they never did. Meh, whatever. But on the other hand, there was something so real about it. Their performances were sincere and the sex scenes weren't glorified or made to be pornographic. There were real sounds, real dialog, these moments didn't seem so scripted as the rest of the movie did. But then Michael Pitt started speaking with a slight French accent that just threw me off and was more than a bit distracting, I see his point, but it didn't work for me. Bottom line, I'm glad I saw it. Did I love it? No. Would I own it? Probably not, but I may tune in if it's on hbo or ifc.
And in other happy news, yesterday I bought FotR:EE (oh rest assured I have already seen it many times - my friend had it, but)I can't believe it took me this long to purchase it myself. Today I will force my roommate to sit down and watch a screening of it, can't wait! I haven't visited Hobbiton, Rivendell or Lothlorien in sooo long. *sighs dreamily*
