Here's where I go on and on about the last episode of Sex and the City...
The last episode of Sex and the City was absolutely mahvelous. I only wanted one thing to happen... okay two. Carrie to decide to leave Alex and Paris on her own, and more importantly, for her and Big to get back together. Or at least have the option of being together, just have it out there on the table. And it was... they did.
Of course, I had a much more detailed version etched out in my mind that I secretly hoped for. When we had last left our heroine, she had lost her "Carrie" necklace in Dior and Big was on his way to Paris to profess his love. It was my hope that Big would then search for Carrie, maybe retrace her steps, thinking of where Carrie would go in Paris, and eventually land in Dior as well. Their fates would then collide as he would somehow stumble upon the cherished necklace - maybe he too would slip and fly across the floor landing near it, or the sun would be shining just right and he would catch a glimmer of something out of the corner of his eye. SomehowPrince Charming Big would find the lost glass slipper necklace and then find Cinderella Carrie, and present it to her with his love. (I know, the way my mind works... barf.)
Thefairytale story didn't end this way. But in keeping with the theme, I like the way they ended it better. Carrie didn't need Big to come rescue her, she didn't need someone to bring her the glass slipper. She did it herself. She found her necklace, glass slipper, identity, truth, and self-worth all on her own. The fact that Big finally showed up was just gravy. It was six years coming, there were no more questions, she knew the answers and finally Big knew them too. She knew why he was there and she was ready to go home, to everyone.
Tearfest, yes it was. When Big said, "You're the one", When Magda kissed Miranda on the forehead, when Charlotte saw the photo of their baby, when Smith told Samantha he loved her, and most especially, when Carrie showed up at the cafe for brunch, surprising the loves of her life, her soulmates.
*sigh*
And his name is John! *squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*
