etown nyc premiere

gah, crazy day at work today yesterday and i am was running on only fours hours of sleep, but i know if this doesn't get typed up now, it never will, so. let's see... (never got a chance to post this yesterday, it's a bit long and rambly, apologies)
the set-up was screwy. they essentially had a tent set up along the side of the theater, press on the theater side, guests across from them under the tent, and the fans? screwed. at the very end of the press line, right before the celebrities entered the theater, there was enough space for about 40 fans to hang out and try to get a glimpse, snap a few photos, and maybe get an autograph (though this option would probably only be viable for the 10 or so fans at the front of the crowd against the railing).
the movie was scheduled for 7, i arrived about 5ish and was essentially s.o.l. if you couldn't fit behind the barricade, they told you to keep it moving. a few minutes later, however, they set up an additional barricade further away from the tent. so there was TENT. 40 fans. 20 feet of MUST KEEP THIS AREA CLEARED walkway. and then us behind barricade #2. =/
camillafarfalla and
pseudonihilist arrived shortly after and we began the countdown to orlitown.
we had an excellent view. an excellent view of random people going to the movies, and the backs and heads of those luckier fans. and then white tent. golly that's a nice white tent. okay, this needn't be a novel, why am i going on about this crap. (eta: i like how i say this but then continue to go on about this crap *desk*) so people started arriving eventually - uh, yeah, don't ask me who, we couldn't see shit. someone shouted that they saw kirsten. sure. okay.
i periodically stood on my tippiest of tippy toes upon the railing and could make out lots of heads. with hair. moving and scattering about in the distance. i was pretty sure i saw cameron crowe and judy greer for a nanosecond. at one point someone shouted that they saw keanu reeves, so i jumped up on my toes again and peered and peered... and... wait... i think... i think that's rufus wainwright. *squints, zooms camera, clicks, gets squat* someone else said they thought it was 'that guy from garden state'. it certainly wasn't zach braff and it wasn't keanu. rufus? maybe, i thought, but maybe not. and one other time with the tippytoes and searching the sea of heads i thought for a split second i caught ben from felicity. but *shrug* that's kind of odd, so... probably not. it was nearing 7:00 and to the best of our knowledge, orlando hadn't even arrived yet. fooey.
the exciting part here is that through a bit of good fortune and a fine bit of acting from camilla, we soon had in our possession three tickets to the premiere!! this certainly made up for the crappy start of the night.
finally admitting defeat, that where we stood blew, that there was nothing to see, or rather nothing that *could* be seen, we headed into the theater at 6:55 and got ourselves psyched for elizabethtown. \o/ before taking our seats, we lingered a bit just outside along with many other guests and treated ourselves to some free popcorn and drinks. oh, and one of those other guests standing not two feet from me? scott speedman, aka ben from felicity. :D now, i was always more of a noel girl, but still, kinda sweet.
we settled into our balcony seats and peed our pants a lil (or maybe that was just me) because OMG ELIZABETHTOWN. movie review to come, but i will say that i enjoyed it. and orlando was great. *insert giant sigh of relief here* so credits role and we start walking out with the masses.
we look over to the other mass of folks coming out of the main part of the theater, not 15 feet from us. !!! yes, um, that would be, omg the hair, the curls, asdlfjlasd... ORLANDO. and kate was with him, n'aww (let me just interject here to say that i have a much more positive view of her after seeing orli on oprah and how he kind of lit up at mention of her, i dare say the boy's in love). anyhoo... YES. there he was.
so our herd merged a bit with his herd and soon we were only about 8 feet to his left, all of us moving forward at the same slow herding speed. he looked lovely, he really did. and happy. i seriously had to fight an urge to tell him what a wonderful job he did. OH. ♥
so that was it. a few moments later, he was being escorted to the exit and we stayed behind to collect our cameras (we had to check them at the door, seriously). so there were are, still enjoying the orlish contact high, when i sense camilla and pseudy gesturing to someone behind me. i turn a bit and look through the crowds of people still exiting, searching for some famous face that they think i should recognize, but... nothing. so i turn around a little more and LITERALLY. STANDING RIGHT BEHIND ME. IS RUFUS WAINWRIGHT. DOOOOOOD.
i started shaking a bit felt myself do this: O_O HO. LY. SHIT. i? love him. he? makes my heart ache in such a way. (totally different than the orli ache, but an ache nonetheless). me, being me, scurried off to the side and couldn't think of a thing to say except OMG I LOVE YOU, so naturally, i said nothing.
he soon walked away (omg get me away from the scary chick hyperventilating plis!), just as susan sarandon walked by us and called after him ("oh, rufus!"). what? susan sarandon just hailed down rufus right in front of me. *sporfle* the oddity of new york living sometimes, i swear. tim robbins exited soon after, and holy lord he's a tall man. and apparently kirsten walked literally right in front of me, even said something loudly about an umbrella i guess, and i completely missed it. i can make out rufus and ben from felicity in a sea of heads off in the distance, but kirsten right in front of me? whoosh. :p
so that was it. we collected our cameras, reveled in the omgorlando of it all (this was pseudy's first time seeing him all up close and personal \o/), and went home smiling.
ahhh, good times.
