holy mother of god. i... i don't even know what to say. i did not expect that. i did not expect to spend nearly two hours crying over the sheer horror and brutality of it all. i knew it would be bloody, and that it was. in fact, there were many scenes where i looked away completely. i didn't know how graphic they were, but i sure as hell did not want to find out. the sounds did me in plenty. i'm still trying to process what i just saw, but for most of the movie, i just kept hearing theoden's line in my head. *points to subject* i'm not a religious person. at all. but i think this movie is more about humanity than religion. i just... i don't understand. it just makes me so angry. i can't go into it more than that. there were many many tears. it's a good movie. mel did well. but i will never ever see it again. ever. it's too hard.
as for jersey girl, which feels ridiculous to even mention at the moment, but it was not kevin's best work. i still love him. i will see anything he puts out. but i was honestly surprised by how cheesy, sappy, and cliche this movie was. i had hoped for and expected better. not to bash him, because like i said, i love the guy, and i'm glad my 10 bucks went to his movie (and not to passion - mel's doing just fine without my help). but... maybe he should stick to the dick and fart jokes. the extremely witty, pee-inducing, quotable dick and fart jokes. there was a great cameo by jason lee and matt damon that felt more like the kevin we all know and love. liv was great, cute and quirky. and the little girl, hi mini jlo (in that she looked a lot like her, not acted like her), was adorable. would i recommend it? sure, because i want his film to do well at the box office. but would i say it's a good film? erm... unfortunately no. still, the man knows his comics and i eagerly await the green hornet, the animated clerks movie and fletch won.
