not obsessed, THOROUGH.

so, i have this thing where i really love it when celebrities wear the same things over and over. because then you know it's actually something in their wardrobe. not something their stylist picked out for them, or something some designer gave them to wear/promote, it's just... it was in their closet. and they like it. and decided to wear it that day. like... a normal person. well, multiply that by buckets when they wear something over and over and over again.
so this story starts when i first got interested in bandom last year and came across a picture of frank wearing this red shirt on which he (presumably) wrote HOMOPHOBIA IS GAY.

naturally, i made the hart eyes. ♥___♥
now, i'm not so great at putting pictures to years, but based on the lack of right arm tattoos, the gauged ears, and the hair... it was obviously not too recent. i don't know, revenge era?
but then photos came out of him performing with his side group, thing, leathermouth. and these were recent, and would you look at that? SAME SHIRT - only right side out this time. and really sweaty. :p

i still didn't think too much of it, aside from n'awww he still has that shirt. <3 and like, chose to wear it for his leathermouth gig. sweet. *thumbs up*
but then! one day i was gazing away at one of my favorite pictures of the boys, because they're all just so damn adorable and young, and even though i'd looked at this photo several times before, somehow i had never noticed - it's The Same Shirt!! ajksldfj.

matt's still in the band, and look at mikey's and toro's hair, FRANK'S HAIR and his bare LEFT arm! they were BABIES OMG, but that is clearly the CUB DAY CAMP CAMP TAMARACK shirt. the same one he had worn just a few months ago. !!!
since then, i've tried to keep an eye out as best i can. o_O
earliest pictures of The Shirt seem to be from the orange-hair era, like the one above. i'm still hazy on what year that would actually be... 2002, 2003? the dreads were first, right? *headscratch* anyhow...

it's hard to tell, but the shirt is inside out and if you look realllly hard, you can kind of make out the white-ish outline of the day camp logo on his upper right side.

presumably this is the same shirt, but who knows for sure. i haven't come up with a conclusive way of identifying it from the back.
can't quite place these in the timeline. i see blond, but it's not orangey, so maybe this is when he shaved the sides and did that faux-hawk thing? whenever that was...

these are a bit more recent, i think, maybe, as frank's hair is dark and longer, but the shirt's still unmarked.

so i was watching lotms last weekend, not the long-ass documentary on the first dvd, but the second dvd with the videos and live performances. the disk i rarely pull out, and if i do it's for the video making-of's only. but this time i decided to watch the performances too (and then sort of remembered why i usually don't). point being, i nearly jumped out of bed (i didn't, though, 'cause i'm a lazy fuck) when i realized that frank was wearing the Gay Shirt when they did that mtv discover and download thing. \o/
now i don't know the story behind the 'homophobia is gay' part. does anyone? anyone know when that first showed up and if he ever said anything about it?? and as i mentioned, i'm also crap with figuring out timelines in regards to frank's hair. these all appear to be from the revenge/lotms era, but fuck if i know which ones came first, the long or the short. but bob's around, so they've got to be late 2004 at the earliest, maybe 2005? *shrug*

not 100% certain, but i'm pretty sure that's the camp logo - the brown with the white outline.
and you can just make out the 'op' of homophobia in these.

poor mikeyway, third wheel much? ;)

oh gerard, your shoes. how so awful?

it's like the photographer yelled "strike a pose!" and they all just laughed and ignored him. except for mikey. *head tilt*

ugh, that face, those lips. om nom nom.

even sporting it for photo shoots. :)
and then it's pretty quiet, as far as i can tell, until october 2007 - the leathermouth show. \o/

so then, imagine my FLAIL when frankie shows up wearing the same goddamn shirt that he's had for HOW MANY YEARS NOW on this last tour in... vietnam, i think it was?

STILL. WEARING IT. UHGGGGHHHHHH and HART MOTHERFUCKER. srsly, how is it not paper-thin and falling apart? it must be sooooo soft, though. old cotton tees, nnngh. <3
and lastly, there are all the maybe's and who know's. like i mentioned, i don't know how to identify it from the back, and you can't always tell by the shade of red because depending on the camera sometimes it looks more orange and other times more pink. so are these That Shirt? MAYBE. or just other red shirts? WHO KNOWS. ('course i know what i'd like to think.)

n'aww, forehead kissing. and in the Things I Don't Miss category: Shirtless Matt. =\

how so tiny? ♥
not to mention the guy likes to layer - and often with a red shirt underneath. is it the Gay Shirt, is it?? we'll never knowwwwww.

heeeeeeee<3.
there's also the case of the Day of the Dead shirt, which shows up frequently and has foiled my hopes on more than one occasion.

but this shirt deserves some love too, because it has its own story of wonderment. either the boys loved it so much they each got their own, or they like to share and just pass it arounnnnd. :D

these are only but a few, and it's worthy of its own picspam, but this is not that post. [other worthy clothing related posts could include mikey's zipper jacket, his anthrax shirt, or the traveling unicorn pin. you know, if somebody wanted to.]
oh, Cub Day Camp Camp Tamarack Gay Shirt, i love you and look forward to seeing you again. because i know that i will. ♥

eta: i just discovered this is my 1000th LJ entry! heeeeeeee. :D
