waited in the freezing cold (okay, freezing for LA) on the sidewalk by myself surrounded by spazzing teenagers for three long hours. but oh, oh, it was worth it.

i wasn't planning on getting to golden apple until much later in the day, but at 3:30 this afternoon i checked their website and discovered that only the first 200 people (who bought the comic from them) would be guaranteed to have gerard sign something - and they went on sale at 11am. !!! i called, they said they had a few left, but to hurry. i was still in my pajamas having spent the entire day up until that point lounging in bed reading comics. i took the fastest shower known to man, threw on my clothes, and flew out the door.

turns out there were only 70 people ahead of me? 100 tops. but whatever, i got in line and i wasn't budging. a little over three hours to go. with teens and tweens on either side of me. (younglings that DON'T KNOW WHO RIVER PHOENIX WAS. /o\ who first got into mcr when they were NINE.) they seemed nice enough, but just, you know, young. thankfully, i had my phone and texted and fail-twittered to pass the time.

this woman had a pretty kick-ass costume. for non-ua types, this is the character vanya, also known as the white violin. she attempts to destroy the world - like you do. oddly enough, this woman totally recognized my tie as being from her store (i bought it at slow on melrose last weekend). weird!

also, a fan had on the famous skeleton pjs like the ones gerard used to have. (loll blurry stakerazzi photo)

anyhow... cut to three hours later and the line finally starts moving and we eventually enter the sweet warmth of the store. ahhhhhh, heaven.

(ps, batman says fuck you.)

and then we round the corner and there he is. \o/ and it's a well established fact that my camera blows, and my hands are shaking a little, so... blurry photos! and i didn't use the flash bc it always feels rude to me. but whatever, better ones will show up on the interwebs eventually! in the meantime...

somewhere in between those last two photos, i had my turn to say hello. i wasn't a complete failboat, but i did have an um........ moment. i snapped out of it though and managed to hold a brief ~conversation with him. basically i congratulated him on a job well done bc i srsly cannot chose a favorite character in the umbrella academy. every time i think i've picked a favorite, i end up changing my mind. and for some unknown reason, this week it's the kraken??? and then that was it. i think i thanked him? i'm pretty sure. i hope so... there was so much more i wanted to say (like quoting eight different lines from this latest ua issue), but you know, you've only got like 20 seconds up there, so you just gotta chose one thing and go with it and that's what came out. *shrug*

so that was it. it was good!

in conclusion: i still kinda love his stupid face. ♥

i hope so! he seemed to respond favorably and even chatted about it for a bit. (though truth be told i'm kind of disappointed that i forgot to give him a hard time for using powdered creamer in his coffee. POWDERED CREAMER!! srsly, the horror...)

hee, pique and i were talking about the powdered creamer thing today and how it totally brought him off the coffee pedestal.

anyways, i am glad you go to meet him, krit. it sounds excellent.

like pique says, it's not like they never have an opportunity to stop at a convenience store to get fresh creamer. there's no accounting for taste, i guess.

exactly. i certainly don't look at him the same way anymore. i thought he was MISTER COFFEE (loll no pun intended), but no. that's just messed up. i am shaking my head disappointedly, gerard.

He totally does fail about coffee! If I find out he wasn't kidding about the white mocha, I might cry!

He looks amazing and sounds lovely and I am super jealous! Go you for not being a total spazboat (I can only imagine how I would fail at this kind of meeting)! ♥

POWDERED CREAMER, PIQUE. i mean... i'll just take it black if those are my only options. awful, just awful.

i tried my best to channel my zen, and remind myself that I AM OLDER THAN HIM BY A NUMBER OF YEARS, but still... when the moment actually comes, something short-circuits, things don't fire quite right, and i stumble over almost every word. forming a coherent sentence has never been such a conscious chore! /o\
