drive by picture post.

today's haul:

om nom nom nom.

my new (to me) dresser:

a thrift store find, SUPER clean, and a SUPER bargain! \o/

my dining table recently stained dark brown (thanks, dad)!

from the same thrift store several months ago. still working on reupholstering the chairs.

i generally don't take pictures of people in costume at sdcc. i mean, there are some GREAT ones, but i just can't be bothered to keep getting my camera out and asking people to stop and pose. and it's always so damn crowded that just maneuvering my way around and taking in the sights is difficult enough, i just can't handle one more thing, lol.

but this guy. i freaked out and chased after him to get a photo.

tobias "i just blue myself" funke from arrested development. complete with never-nude denim shorts! :D!

and one day (maybe this week!) i'll get the rest of my sdcc photos up, but for now, here's bonus norman reedus for my girl [livejournal.com profile] slightlytricky (and all who can appreciate that smile and the delicious, delicious hand porn he so generously provides). ♥

Krit, your tomatoes are so pretty! I house-sat for my friend's sister a few summers ago and she had tomato plants with those little pear-shaped yellow ones. Every time I took the dog outside I'd end up picking them off the plants and just popping them in my mouth. OM NOM NOM.

And omg, how much do you love a good thrift store find??? I furnished several apartments in Florida with about 90% thrift store furniture. OMG I still miss that huge thrift store sometimes. It was right across the highway from the tiny, dark, musty-dusty used bookstore. <33333333333

the yellow pear-shaped ones are my favorite! sadly, the yellow tomato plants haven't produced much this year. i think i planted them too late. but the red one is HUGE and produces a good handful every couple of days. :D

right? i'm basically working with an ikea budget, but trying to keep the ikea purchases to a minimum. it takes persistence and patience, but so far so good.

My dad grew tomatoes every year, and the smell of them always makes me think of him. <3 One summer he was a little... overenthusiastic with the Miracle Grow and we ended up with exploded tomatoes. We never let him live that down.

And I love Ikea, but I'm with you--I like mixing up old and new. And half the fun (and FRUSTRATION) of thrifting is having to sift through lots of crap to get to the good stuff. At least sometimes you get to dig through FUN crap. :)
