strange days...

yesterday i didn't even turn my computer on until almost midnight. and this morning i've been awake in bed, tossing and turning, trying desperately to go back to sleep, since 7 am. couldn't take it anymore and got up at 8. 8AM ON A SUNDAY!! something is wrong with me.
yesterday was another beautiful day here, so naturally i spent the majority of it indoors in the dark. :/ went to see Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and, finally, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azakaban.
laughed my ass off at dodgeball, but i enjoy the physical humor. as banal and cliche as it is, show me a guy falling down stairs, getting hit in the nuts, or in this case, getting the smackdown with big red shiny balls (and random metal objects) and i'll be rolling in the aisles. i'm easy. but if you liked other movies in the stoopid comedy genre, then you will most likely enjoy it. ben's great, as per usual, so is vince vaughn, the kid from the tv show Ed, justin long, and one of my favorites, jason bateman. i've loved jason since i was twelve. he had a tv show, which i'm sure no one even remembers, called 'it's your move'. this show launched the fandom!dork within me as i began taping not only the tv show (which i still have on tape btw), but also every little interview, snipet, and bit with jason that i could find.
as for HP3, i was pleased, it was good. ron is so my favorite, i only wish there was more of him in the movie. i'm really excited by the fact that the kids are growing up, becoming teenagers (finally, i can start to see the attraction to HP slash). i hadn't finished the book yet, so much of the plot was new to me. i really enjoyed the time-travel business, and the lupin/sirius twists (omg, they are so a couple). and as with the other 2 potter films, the movie left me wanting more - which i know the book will provide. there is only so much they can cover in the films, so they must go with plot and leave out any extraneous character development. but i understand that, it doesn't upset me so much anymore. everything that was there was great, i just wanted more of everything.
and don't hate me, but as cute as dan is, he really needs to take some acting lessons. i want to see him continue as harry, but he's going to need to step it up a bit. he often has this weird smirky expression on his face, as though he's trying not to smile. and his crying scene was just terrible - no tears, no emotion, no real expression of anything. his voice went from woe to anger but his face stayed constant with the neutral little smirk throughout. it just pulled me right out of the film and i suddenly became aware of his acting, and not the story - not what a filmmaker wants. i like him for the most part, really, but if he and the other kids, for that matter, are going to keep these characters, they need to grow with them and really develop their skills. the 'cuteness' factor will only take them so far.
and now... coffee, need more coffee.
uses norman icon just cuz. he doesn't get enough play in these parts.
