concert!!! in the rain... :/
stellastarr: was excellent! of course, it was POURING during their entire set. no really. not just drizzle - RAIN. POURING. but, you know, umbrella in one hand, beer in the other, and good music. it coulda been worse.
yeah yeah yeahs: it got worse. rain let up (yay!) but then she started "singing" (buh?). wha? i have "fever to tell", which is good, but live? uh... just a bunch of screaming - which sounded really painful. ow. not impressed at all, and fairly disappointed. and her chatter between songs? it consisted primarily of "fuck." "shit." and "where's the fucking rain?!" o_O next.
devo: ARE WE NOT MEN? WE ARE DEVO! \o/ they were AWESOME! started their set in their trademark yellow jumpsuits and red "hats"! and how great to see grey-haired middle-aged men still doing their thing and doing it fucking WELL! now they know how to put on a show. (and the rain had pretty much stopped! but then it poured again at the end. :/)
after the concert, we headed to cpk for a late dinner. when we sat down at our table, i immediately recognized the guy sitting a few tables over from us - blond guy, glasses, actor, but i couldn't quite place him. i get terribly annoyed and fixated when stuff like this happens (imdb is my friend) and i needed to know who he was. we all recognized him, definitely, but again, had trouble deciding from what. two of us said, "he's the kid from adventures in babysitting, the friend, daryl." but another said, "no, that's not him. it's the guy from that teen movie that came out a while ago, where they put on a play... and he was in rent."
we went around and around in circles, "okay, so NOT adventures in babysitting, but YES rent", trying to solve this mind-boggling mystery. we finally figured out the teen movie was get over it with kirsten dunst - but couldn't come up with anything else, even though we knew we'd seen him in something more recent. and we still didn't have a name, but alas, i felt at ease, knowing that i could imdb him later (now that at least we had a movie nailed down). and all through dinner, there were periodic quizzical smiling looks coming from me - which i'm certain he noticed. *facepalm* it was literally driving me insane, i couldn't concentrate on anything else.
cut to later that night. *searches get over it on imdb* nope. that ain't it. fuck. now what? *lightbulb* HELLO?! i have the rent cd (it's only one of my all-time favorites!), so i grab the liner notes, find his name, anthony rapp, throw it in imdb, and VOILA! he was the kid from adventures in babysitting, i knew it! not to mention school ties and dazed and confused (which hi, we watch almost every weekend *big ass facepalm*). so with that, *contented sigh* i went to bed. only to then be completely embarrassed by how many times we said "adventures in babysitting" at the table that night and wondered if he heard us. we were convinced that he wasn't in that film, so didn't feel the need to shoosh that part of our conversation. oops. :D
