have you ever seen something posted in someone's journal that reminds you of something you recently posted and just for a moment been a little confused because you're fairly certain this person doesn't read your LJ, because why would they, why would anyone, for that matter (but best not to go there), and so you're sure it's just coincidence but then it keeps happening periodically over several months but you're still pretty certain they don't read your journal, because why would they, so it's definitely just coincidence but still kinda weird?

example. let's say i were to post something like: *shares my fun dip* (i have no idea where this example came from, my apologies)

and then later that day, or the next day, someone posts: top 10 candies from childhood. candy necklaces, candy cigarettes, fun dip, pixie sticks, etc...

now, it has nothing to do with my post, i realize this, and we all know what fun dip is, certainly nothing original on my part, but just odd, right? i mean, how often do you find yourself talking about fun dip? o_O

and i don't mean any of this is a "i'm so great" way, or "their stealing my ideas" way, or even a "i'm so flattered" way. it's simply... odd. weird. in the immortal words of arsenio hall, things that make you go hmmm. and it's nothing grand or blatant. just small little mentions of the same bit of randomness. i'm 95% sure it's mere coincidence. but it just keeps happening. sort of. maybe i'm imagining it.

like let's say i used some well known, though maybe not frequently used, phrase: man, i couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.

and then later, i see in someone's post (who would no doubt use the phrase far more cleverly than i :P): *looks for tune in bucket* apparently, there's a leak.

now we all know this phrase and surely we've all used it at some point. again, it's not mine, i have no ownership of it and i'm not claiming to. it's just a matter of timing. it's just weird, right? i mean we all read stuff and are then reminded of things, and then possibly post about them, so maybe this person has recently been in my journal, which is fine, i certainly don't mind, more the merrier, but... no, i'm sure it's simply wacky coincidence, but... it still makes me stop and go, "huh. that's odd." *blinkblink*

whatever. i mean, it doesn't really matter and i don't really care, i'm not even sure why i'm posting about it (procrastination and boredom, perhaps?). i think i'm just amused by the absurdity of it all. it's... *head tilt* odd.

eta: fun dip, for those of you saying, buh?

:D if you offer to share your fun dip with the prez, just be sure to have some on hand, otherwise i fear there may be room for misunderstandings, if you get my meaning...

He brought up LOTR's in milestones meeting one morning and I thought I was going to spit my latte all over him.

"Lord of the Business Plans... it has a certain *ring* to it."

ahahahahahahahahaha... gotta love upper management, they try.

when "normal" people bring up lord of the rings in front of me, my inner fangirl starts flailing all about, but i do my best to remain calm, composed, smiling - but not too much, and offer random information and factoids to keep the conversation going, but again, not too much, lest they find out the truth about me. :)
