yes, i'm still here. just barely. i think i have just enough energy for the briefest of posts (yay for afternoon coffee!), but hey, that's better than nothing. work is going well (aside from that annoying bomp bomp bomp noise that wakes me up at the ass crack of dawn). my work is nothing thrilling - i'm a billing supervisor - but i knew this going in. and it comes with a paycheck, so i'm happy.
in addition to starting the new job (which is a bit stressful right now because the office is a whirlwind of chaos, deadlines are looming, no one seems to know exactly what's going on, and i've been brought in to "fix it" even though i'm still trying to figure out what's going on), i have a friend visiting from CA (which is it's own kind of stress), and i'm leaving thursday to go to CA for a friend's wedding (i still have no idea what i'm wearing to the wedding, i haven't even begun to think about packing, and i have much to do in the next 24 hours, so OMG STRESS).
however, OMGDOM. will be here tomorrow night *happy sigh* and i will be taking an hour hiatus from the packing i will likely not have even begun by that point (why must i always wait till the very last minute for everything?).
however #2, i did manage to squeeze in some fun stuff this last weekend with my CA friend in town. sunday we went to MoMA Queens (which closed monday because they're finally moving it back to manhattan, opening in november). details on the exhibit later for i have not the brain functionality for such commentary right now. and more importantly, we went to not one, but two new york city landmarks after that which blew me away. somebody please tell me why, oh god, why had i never been to strand or forbidden planet before?!?! what the hell is wrong with me? wait. don't answer that. i've been wanting to go into both the strand and fp for some time now, but every time i'm walking by, i'm always on my way some place else, and so i tell myself, ah yes, must come back. but do i? no. stupid stupid stupid. *bangs head repeatedly on desk* so... strand? omg, SO great. cluttered and crowded? yes. half price books? yep. half price new books? you betcha! from now on, it's b&n for leisurely browsing, sitting, and reading, but it's strand for purchasing. \o/ and fp?! OMG I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE. it's a geek's wet dream. action figures galore, wall to wall comics, books, more action figures, um... just anything and everything. and as broke as i am, i couldn't leave there empty handed, i just couldn't do it. did i bring home the 20" talking legolas i've had my eyes on? no, still can't justify that. yet. did i bring home the smaller aragorn? no. they didn't have a smaller leggy, and what's the point of having an aragorn without leggy, right? exactly. perhaps a hobbit? nope. all they had was frodo, and i had a hankering for merry or pip. bobble-head spike? omg, i so almost bought that. wanted to really badly, but alas no, that'll have to wait (because you know i'm going back for it once i get a paycheck or two). so i wandered the store, like a kid in a candy store, salivating and smiling and wandering some more, and then, there it was. frank miller's sin city and i knew it had to be mine. =) sadly, i haven't had a minute to even crack it open, but i figure it will be good reading for the flight out on thursday.
um... what else. oh yes! i also saw shaun of the dead. bloody fucking brilliant. i absolutely loved it. will most certainly own this one (and speaking of owning dvds, esotsm comes out soon! clem! ♥ - oh yeah, and elijah).
um, right. i think that's everything. the highlights, anyhow. i probably still won't be around much this next week as i'll be in CA, running around trying to see everyone and do everything that i can in this quick five day trip, but i'll try to drop by and read a bit here and there. and sadly, there is absolutely no LJ at work, for the next few months at least - in november we're moving to another office, so i'm hoping that i might be able to finagle something by then - we shall see. obviously, work is more important - need job, need money - but i feel so disconnected being away all day, wah. i miss mah girlies. <333
oi, time to hit the hay since i'll be hearing that bomp bomp bomp in less than six hours. oof. and argh.
erm, um, also? i really really do NOT like this new entry format. *confuzzled* also um, so much for brevity. oops.

Date: 2004-09-29 12:58 pm (UTC)I've still never been to the Strand myself. Am dumbass. I actually tried to go three weeks ago, but then my other Union Sq errands took up too much time and I couldn't. Maybe I'll plan it this weekend finally.
Enjoy the DOM tonight!! and good luck with the packing and everything!
